Unhealthy Roundness

Unhealthy roundness is a complicated and highly individual issue. Here are some of the factors: (some of this is controversial)

  • For some roundness occurs in women with the shifting of female hormones at puberty, childbirth, menopause when previously slim bodies become rounder.
  • Roundness can also occur with thyroid or insulin imbalances.
  • For some it is associated with a holding of the energy associated with repression of the self to fit into the socially and culturally learned role of gender. It might be linked to a fear. Hypnotherapy can help resolve many blocked issues. Unresolved issues with holding back or blocking energy can distort the body into roundness.
  • Stereotyping of the round - Most in our culture have deeply ingrained reactions to roundness, including the media, medicine, fitness, fashion, advertising. We see it in schools as teacher’s pets and in playground yard bullies.
  • In prehistoric times being excluded or made OUTCAST would be associated with starvation. This primitive association with STARVATION and HOARDING could exist in the psychology of the outcast. The outcast here having being created by stereotyping of the round bodied person who may feel outcast.
  • Diet and exercise are NOT always the universal solution to roundness in all cases. Many times the round bodied person may have understandably become resigned to being round because the touted methods to resolve it have not worked or produced permanent results. In frustration, they decide to indulge themselves with eating because nothing works anyway.
  • Cultural double standard for women/men concerning roundness and attractiveness may cause strong frustration in some.
